David Ramsay
During his over three decades in the securities industry, David Ramsay established a reputation as a top-ranked, client-focused investment analyst. He brings this expertise and passion to investors in the Calrossie Partners Fund.
In his executive role at CIBC World Markets (and predecessor firms including Wood Gundy) from 1984 to 2004 David performed major roles in the areas of equity analysis and institutional sales, including Director of Research and Director of Canadian Institutional Sales. As Director of Research he managed a department of approximately 50 employees. He was a Managing Director of the firm from 1990. During his 13 years as an equity analyst David covered a wide range of industries and at various times was the number one ranked analyst in three different sectors: diversified companies, steel, and income trusts.
David Ramsay holds a BA from the University of Toronto and an MBA from the Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario (class of 1982). Prior to joining the investment industry, David worked in finance at IBM Canada from 1982 to 1984. Before doing his MBA, he worked as a corporate lending officer at Chase Manhattan Canada from 1977 to 1980, with the first year spent in New York completing Chase’s corporate-lending training program. In addition to his many years in the investment business with CIBC World Markets, David spent nine months in 1993 with fund manager Gluskin, Sheff and Associates, helping manage the firm’s U.S. portfolio.
David’s breadth of experience provides the perspective that is critical to achieving solid long-term investment returns.
David is married with two children.
